Owned jointly by the regional municipalities, Turun Seudun Jätehuolto Oy (TSJ) is a company whose tasks include the organisation of waste management, the handling of waste, and the provision of guidelines and advice regarding waste disposal. Our customers include about 317,000 residents and businesses located within our operational area.

Waste management in the region of Turku is based on the sorting of waste at homes and businesses. The majority of the waste can be recycled into new raw materials for industry or burned to produce energy.

Any waste that contains harmful elements, such as hazardous waste or electrical and electronic equipment, is taken to the proper reception centres for safe disposal.
